Hello friends! I am so excited to (hopefully!) be the one shooting your wedding. I have been photographing weddings since 2014, after getting my degree in Photojournalism at the University of North Texas.
Love stories are my thing. I have been a hopeless romantic since I was a tiny child. (I blame Titanic + Boy Meets World.) When I started photography and realized this could be MY way of telling epic love stories, I was hooked.
I believe love is love, in all sizes, genders, religions, and colors. I strive to celebrate diversity, and would never discriminate based on a client's sexuality, faith, or race.
When I am not taking photos of gorgeous people, I am teaching dance (to wonderful children) and pilates ( to equally wonderful adults!) I also love traveling (Paris is next up on my bucket list), watching lots of TV, and my weighted blanket. 😂
There are a million wedding photographers out there. Choosing one can be an incredibly tough and personal decision. Here's what you get when you choose CKP to be your wedding photographer:
*8 years of experience! I've shot over 50 weddings, in almost every kind of condition. My very first wedding was in a torrential downpour and I had to do everything in a tiny room, covered in gold walls. I can make. it. work.
*We have FUN! The greatest compliment I can get is when we finish with photos and I hear "oh, that was easy," or my favorite: "That was easier than I expected." So many people dread getting their photos taken, and I strive to make it as joyful and natural as possible.
*I want you to have timeless and classic photos. I would hate for you to look back at your photos in five or ten years and go "Ugh, that looks so 2022". I like to shoot a nice mix of fine art portraits and candids, with a focus on organic moments, curated details, and BLANK.
*No stuffy, awkward poses here. I like my couples to look like THEMSELVES! My dance background lends itself to natural movement and flowing through poses, so I let you move and be yourselves. I always say "Do what feels natural, and if it's weird, I'll fix it." 😂
I went to college with the intention of being a news editorial major, I had dreams of being a pop culture/television critic. I was required to take an introduction to multimedia class, which is where I fell in love with photography. I switched my major to photojournalism, and off I went.
I knew I wanted to start photographing weddings, because I LOVE a good love story, and what better way to tell a love story than being a wedding photographer? Since weddings are a one in a lifetime opportunity (we hope!), I made sure I had lots of experience before I took one on by myself. I spent two years second shooting, working with lots of photographers and studying how they worked and ran a wedding. After building a strong base, I took on my first wedding, and I was hooked!
I live for capturing those small moments at weddings. Your partner's face during the first look, the tears during vows, the hand on the small of your back during the first dance. Knowing that I am capturing the memories that you will keep for the rest of your life is such a honor, and I take that job seriously.
While I went to UNT, my little brother went to Baylor University, and let's be real, they are the more exciting sports school. We are a big Baylor family, and I love when I can go to Waco and cheer on the Bears. Also, any excuse to go to Magnolia is always good.
I started dancing at the age of four, and spent my whole life in the competitive dance world. I started teaching my junior year of high school, and haven't stopped since! Passing on the love of dance is one of my biggest joys in life, and I love investing in my kids. I got certified to teach Pilates in 2020, and teach at a local reformer studio. (The pic is not me, but one I took of one of my dancers!)
I'm a big ol' Swiftie. I used to pride myself on listening to super indie unknown bands, and now I just listen to Taylor Swift on a loop. Sorry to the 16 year old me, you were much cooler musically than I am now.
My (recently diagnosed) ADHD needs constant stimulation, and having podcasts playing at all times helps my brain stay quiet. In the car? Podcast. Shower? Podcast, Falling asleep? Podcast. My faves are: Las Culturistas, Why Won't You Date Me, and Gymcastic.
